Thrills and Skills and So Much More
We are on the RIDE to success in my new 3rd grade classroom and I can’t wait to take you on a tour of the new theme. I will also show you some essential decor and organization tools that you need in your classroom this upcoming year.
I love theme parks and I always have since I was a young child – roller coasters, yummy treats, fun games and being with friends and family. When I think of amusement parks I think of FUN and memories. As a kid my family and I would visit a theme park in northern Utah each year called Lagoon. I have vivid memories of seeing shows, eating too much cotton candy and riding that old white roller coaster.
These fun memories helped me come up with my new 3rd grade classroom theme, Theme Park Thrills. I love the bright colors and I wanted to incorporate pink, orange, yellow, green and blue but also include the fun of an amusement park idea. I can’t wait to keep adding to this theme and for my 3rd graders to learn inside our class theme park each day!
The center focal point of my classroom is this rug from Flagship Carpets. It is the perfect size and the perfect print having those cursive letters that we are going to learn this year in 3rd grade!
An easy way to showcase student work is hang 12in x 12in. card stock with velcro dots and clip a clothespin to hang work you want to display.
I made a paper chain out of raffle tickets to add a fun accent to this reading bulletin board. My students will be earning raffle tickets for each book they read this year and then will have a chance to spin the prize spinner that they are so excited about!
I love adding 3 dimensional accents to bulletin boards and all I used was some poster board, foam and tissue paper to make these fun amusement park sweets!
The Neon Lakeshore Paper Trays are a great way to keep important papers organized. I keep spelling test papers, reading logs, math fact practice pages, and my math boxes in these trays. That way I can grab what I need and items stay organized.
This summer I created a fun ice cream awning for this bulletin board using a cardboard trifold presentation board. I cut it in half and then pieced color paper to create the color pattern. I hung it with small nails and 3M tape.
These coordinating Neon Help-Yourself Book Bins look perfect on any shelf. You can find them at Lakeshore and they can be used in so many different ways.
