Draper Dragon Forever

It was here at the foothills of the Wasatch Mountains in Draper, Utah where I began dreaming of inspiring young minds one day.  I watched my Aunt Pat teach 3rd graders every day. She loved her job. She smiled and enjoyed every moment she was with those students of hers. I knew that I wanted that in the future. I wanted a career that I would feel fulfilled each and every day!
After being a Draper Dragon for 7 years I moved on to middle school and high school. I began spending time with children as often as I could. I babysat regularly. Signed up to be an elementary intern and then worked in my high school’s preschool. Each experience made me realize that I was meant to work with children. I loved their little minds. I was inspired by their courage to never give up.
This year Draper Elementary celebrates 40 years. Thousands of children have gone through my hometown elementary and I’m sure were encouraged in some way but none have been inspired like I was. I’m forever grateful for the experiences that I had in elementary school that led me to being the teacher I am today. I’m thankful for the teachers that I had who believed in me. Who didn’t give up when maybe I wasn’t as successful as they had wanted me to be. Believing in me inspired me to become something great and I hope that I can continue to do that for each child that I teach every year in my teaching career.
