Starting this year I was introduced to a communication binder. Each of my students has a binder like this with 5 plastic pocket dividers. Each have a label (homework, reading log, behavior log, keep at home, return to school). I was a little worried at first sending a 2nd grader home with a binder each night, but they pleasantly surprised me with their level of maturity and willingness to be organized and prepared each day! It makes communication back and forth from home to school so much easier, instead of fitting thousands of items in a pocket folder or throwing everything in a backpack and hoping it gets home, everything is organized and kept neat and tidy. This organized and OCD teacher is in love!
