Holidays Around the World
Celebrating different cultures and traditions is important for all students. Children need to understand cultural differences and this is a great way for them to research and learn about cultures and traditions on Earth.
Using this project, each student will be assigned a country to prepare and research an oral presentation. A letter will go home explaining the project to parents or guardians. When I schedule presentations, I organize these presentations by continents. I will do one day for each continent unless the continent has more than 5 countries. The presentations will take at least a week to get through. Parents are invited to attend their child’s presentation as well. I use the rubric below for scoring and go over the rubric when the information is presented at the beginning of the project, before they go home.
The day before presentations begin, I have my students create their travel suitcase. This suitcase includes traveller’s passport, map, and note taking flip tabs.
